Week Two
Only a few pages into the Bible, Adam and Eve made a devastating choice. They chose to put their will above God’s will, and the relationship with God that man was created for was severed. In Genesis 3 we learn the catastrophic consequences of this sin, the dire condition of man. Our fellowship with God was shattered; death would reign; there would be constant enmity between man and Satan. But even as God pronounced judgment and banished Adam and Eve from the garden, he extended a flicker of hope by giving a promise. The seed of the woman will someday bruise the head of the serpent. This veiled promise was the very beginning of God preparing the way for the Messiah to come to earth. God, the great initiator because of his so great love for us began to initiate a way back to Himself.
