Week Three
Our heavenly Father took thousands of years to prepare for the coming of His son, the Messiah who would make a way for us to get back into relationship with God. In the Old Testament he gave prophecies and painted pictures so that we could recognize the Messiah. The themes of every book in the Old Testament point to him. He is the kinsman redeemer of the book of Ruth. He is the rebuilder of broken walls in Nehemiah. He is the bridegroom, the lover of our souls in the Song of Solomon. He is the stranger in the fire in Daniel, the faithful husband in Hosea and the son of righteousness rising with healing in His wings in Malachi. Jesus is beautifully portrayed in the themes of these books. God was preparing the way so that people would recognize His son.
