Comprehending God’s Love

Knowing that God loves you is a game changer —- no! It is more than a game changer, it’s a life changer! When we know that we are loved by God the void in our hearts, a void that we have always known, is filled. I believe that being able to comprehend God’s love for us is no less than a work of the Holy Spirit — that without this work we will never know that we are deeply loved by God. In the words of Paul in Romans 5, it is the Spirit who pours God’s love out into our hearts. This is why Paul prays in Ephesians 3 that we will be given the ability to comprehend the love that God has for us. It takes God to know that we are loved by God!

Ephesians 3:17-19
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
