Jehovah Shammah

Kathy Phillips

Today is the closing of our Names of God Series, which explores the profound significance of Jehovah Shammah, the final Hebrew name for God revealed in the Old Testament, specifically in Ezekiel 48:35. This name, which means "I Am There," encapsulates a powerful message of hope and God's enduring presence with us.

Jehovah Shammah underscores God's eternal existence—He was, He is, and He will be—standing outside of time while faithfully keeping His covenants. Shammah, meaning "there," signifies a specific location, drawing a beautiful parallel with the Hebrew root for tabernacle, dwell, and abide. It speaks to the comforting truth of God's nearness, inviting us into a deep and abiding relationship with Him.
